You have had quite the experience and it is very much an anomaly. I can only hope that women would be understanding of what I would also hope would be an explanation just as brief as your comment. It’s all you need to say. The concern most women I speak to have about never married, no kid men (which echoes my concern) is that we perceive them through the filter of our own assumptions: they have never had to care for anyone other than themselves. This makes relating to those of us who have had to care for spouses and kids difficult. You are very much that exception. I hope women realize this. You did more than what you should ever have had to do for a loved one.
