Yes, Ladies, You Do Have the Audacity
There are worse things we could be, like, passive.
This morning, for my podcast, I interviewed Kathryn Finney, author of the book Build the Damn Thing: How to Succeed in Business If You’re Not a Rich, White Guy. It was the kind of conversation where you have one of those moments in the middle that you gasp because the whole world suddenly makes sense. I live for that.
Kathryn’s book focuses on the entrepreneurial world being comprised of two types of people: Builders and Entitleds. Ladies, I will give you one guess as to what group we’re in. Also, there’s a hierarchy in the Builder group. Minority men, then white women, then minority women.
I will tell you that Kathryn, who as a Builder has been standing in the back of the line her whole life like she’s waiting to get on Space Mountain feeling like Disneyland is gonna close, has figured the god damn system out!
I, of course, have not figured the system out. I’m still in line for Space Mountain. Actually, I’ve been standing in line for Space Mountain when I really want to be on the Matterhorn. Also, do these rides even exist anymore? I’m old, and Disneyland makes my skin…
