Two things: Men paying for things for women is absolutely not expected by women. If men CHOOSE to do that, it’s on them. I am sick and tired of women being seen as money-grubbing. We may make less which is documented as a byproduct of decades of gender discrimination. We also have societal expectations that we will be the caregivers and men will be the providers. Women didn’t set that standard, the patriarchy did and you’re just as much a victim of that as we are. In both of my marriages, I was the breadwinner. I have never in my life EVER had a man take care of me financially. If you, as man, have an issue with what society dictates as a norm, get moving and do what women are trying to do: change it.
