Right. The neighborhood I want to live in will cost me $2000 for rent for a 1 bedroom. I thought about teachers the whole time I wrote this as I taught for four years. Teachers can barely afford an apartment, if at all.

It really does make me wonder how many people are unhappily married but have resigned themselves to that for a different quality of life. I would be happier in a studio apartment by myself than in a bedroom condo with someone I didn’t love.
