Oh, I am NOT for victim blaming. At all. And, certainly, your point about privilege is spot on. I have a crap ton of privilege and I understand that. I also know that there are a whole lot of people who are born into exceptionally shitty circumstances.

Here’s the difference and the crux of what I’m getting at: We have a choice in our mindset. Embracing a positive mindset is exponentially harder when life has dealt you a crap hand. But, more cards will continually be dealt to us. If we sit at the table assuming the next card will be crap, guess what? It will be. The goal then is to stave off the self-fulfilling prophecy by ridding ourselves of the negative beliefs.

You listen to story after story of people who overcame struggles. The commonality? They firmly believed it was possible.

Also, I have watched plenty of privilege people piss away everything they were born with the privilege of by focusing their time and energy on self-defeating mindsets.
