I think the difference goes back to the original intent of the word blogging. It came from weblog. I had my first one almost 15 years ago.

Back then weblogs were like online diaries. You wrote about every day whatever. It wasn’t necessarily strategic. People read your blog to see what happened to you today.

It’s why I would never consider what I do blogging. I write articles and essays. They don’t appear on a website I run that carries my name. Just my two cents.
