I think, in offering, the is an assumption of want or need or else the offer would not be made. A waiter brings you a dessert menu under the assumption you, indeed, want dessert. Supply. Demand.

And this goes well beyond uninvited pictures. I think the point that you’re missing is that many people will make judgments about the needs of others based on people or relationships in their past. Or even based on broad generalizations. I can’t control that. But I have the right to still be agitated about it.

And, as I mentioned in someone else’s response. I do not wait for people to assume what I want. I will tell them if given half the chance. In these instances, there was no opportunity to communicate wants or needs before the assumptions were made.
