Let me reiterate. That report you linked said nothing about time off. You have no data.

Let me break this down Barney-style. 1) women take less vacation time. 2) when they take vacation time, they feel bad about it. 3) feeling bad about taking vacation time leads them to take less vacation time.

I think the issue is that you're not understanding vacation time vs. sick time.

It is refutable that, in a patriarchal society, women's absence in an office it affected by her gender.
